Lone Star Circus School offers recreational and professional circus training for children and adults in traditional circus arts including the aerial silks/tissu, trapeze, Spanish web, aerial ring, hula hoops, contortion, acrobatics, Rolla Bola, tight rope and more. Lone Star Circus also offers after-school circus training programs for children at numerous Dallas area schools including the Dallas International School and Southern Methodist University.

lone star circus teach and student work on performance skills

Our children’s circus classes for ages 3 and up teach kids foundational circus performance skills while building life-enhancing skills like self-confidence, responsibility, poise, teamwork and self-discipline. Lone Star Circus School students improve their coordination, balance, strength, conditioning and overall fitness in an exciting, fun, and positive manner in our convenient North Dallas location.

Each year, the Lone Star Circus School students take their show on the road (but not too far), performing in professionally choreographed acts in the school’s annual Student Cirque Showcase at an area theatre. With sparkling costumes, dazzling feats, vibrant music, and a packed house, the annual Student Showcase provides students an unrivaled experience and an exciting goal to work toward throughout the year.

Adults and professional performers are also invited to explore our adult circus classes to learn new performance skills and/or to invigorate their fitness routines. Lone Star Circus adult classes are the ideal addition to your fitness plan. Perfect for adults of all ages and fitness levels, Lone Star Circus classes for adults focus on upper body and core conditioning strength.

Classes are individualized to the needs of each participant. Adult circus classes also teach body balance, conditioning, and flexibility. Rather than isolating muscle groups, circus instruction works all muscles at the same time. Students lift and hold their own body weight while building strength on the fabric, aerial hoop, and trapeze. Drop-in students are welcome and can pay by the class.

About A few of our
Circus Arts Classes

Rhythmic Gymnastics

A rhythmic gymnast will always stand out because of her elegant posture, defined muscles, coordination, flexibility, grace and ability to carry herself with poise and confidence. Only in rhythmic gymnastics, complex strengths exercises are combined with apparatus handling and various forms of dance, developing rhythm and musicality.

Each class will follow the outline described below. Some classes will have a different emphasis depending on the need of the gymnasts. Apparatus work will alternate from week to week.

  • Warm-up: ballet basics, stretching and flexibility training, cardio and conditioning.
  • Body Skills: forward and backward rolls, various types of cartwheels, walkovers, various types of pre-acrobatic and contortion skills, balances, pivots, leaps and jumps.
  • Learn various types of dance steps.
  • Work with hand apparatus: rope, hoop, ball, clubs and ribbon, all of which develop hand-eye coordination.
  • Combine body skills with hand apparatus in short group or individual gymnastics routines to the music.
